More than two decades ago, Mike Keiser set out to find a piece of property on which he could build Dream Golf. Inspired by the best in the home of golf—Scotland, Ireland, and England—the initial course would be built on rugged, windswept sand dunes, and be open to the public. It would also encourage golfers to walk the links with a caddie, as has been the case in golf for hundreds of years.
From this dream, Bandon Dunes was born in 1999, with five courses being added at the resort in ensuing years. Built on the success of the west coast resort, three courses at Cabot Links and three courses at Sand Valley have since followed. This is golf as it was meant to be. This is Dream Golf.
Bandon Dunes is true to the spirit of Scotland’s ancient links. Here, players immerse themselves in the traditions of a timeless game and the grandeur of Oregon’s rugged coast. Sweeping, untamed shores stretch for miles. Primeval grassy dunes roll to the sea. Six distinctly different courses have been conceived in harmony with the natural environment. They combine with all the essential elements to reveal a new golf experience every time you play.
The soul of the game resides here. Players walk. And at the end of the day, gracious hospitality comforts each guest like a warm, friendly embrace. This is Bandon Dunes. This is golf as it was meant to be.
Sand Valley sits in the tumbling prehistoric sand dunes of central Wisconsin and pays homage to the great heathland courses of London, namely Sunningdale, Swinley Forest, Walton Heath, and St. George’s Hill. Similar to the great links courses, these properties feature dramatic sand dunes, windy playing conditions, unusual bounces from firm fairways, and a multitude of strategic playing options. Having played these great heathland courses Mike Keiser and his sons, Michael and Chris, knew how enchanting they can be and hoped to bring the same level of fun and enchantment to the great, sandy, heathland property at Sand Valley. With the three courses, the first two courses by Coore & Crenshaw and the third course, Mammoth Dunes, by David McLay Kidd, Sand Valley is a golf destination worth visiting.
