Chile Is Growing: Are You Certified?

The Chilean Association of Information Technology Companies (ACTI), Movistar and the IDC released in May the results of the second version of the Chile Digital Development Indicator. These results showed an increase in the adoption of information technologies of 4.9% in the first half of 2011 over the previous measurement, which reviewed the situation during 2010.

The Digital Development Indicator seeks to show the level of technology implementation in the country, related to the benefits that the industry is or is not offering to the positioning of the Chilean economy in the global context, using the average of the member countries as a basis for comparison of the OECD.

According to Raul Ciudad, President of ACTI,"Although we have improved, this progress is not enough to achieve the goals of a country that expects to be developed by 2018. There is still a lot of work to do in terms of promoting the incorporation of IT, mainly in homes and smaller companies."

One of the many ways in which Chile is promoting its development is through ACTI's investments in the country. Raúl Ciudad, points out that this year the association will have a total investment of approximately $ 1,500 million, to "promote new programs and projects that grow exponentially and allow to support these new ideas with business plans, in addition to looking for investors to finance them. and potential clients doing business with ICT ”.

The Chilean Association of Information Technology Companies (ACTI) has a goal to promote development in the next 5 years, supporting the creation of 20 thousand new ventures in the area of information and communication technologies, ICTs. This goal will position Chile as a key country, also paving the way for its economic development, and providing jobs. In the case of 2011, ACTI collaborated with nearly 1,500 entrepreneurs for the realization of new businesses linked to the creation of technological products and services.

In related news, the government released early on Monday, July 30, the results of the public tender that will assign frequencies to Entel , Movistar and Claro to deploy advanced fourth generation mobile connectivity services, or 4G throughout the country.
