Grand Marshal Nomination Contest
ALL CONTEST ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JUNE 15TH 2017
Nomination Details:
-->Nominees may be of any age.
-->You may nominate yourself or someone you know.
-->Nominees must live in the State of Oregon and be physically able to attend and partipate in the Portlandia Mermaid Parade 2017.
-->The best nominee candiadtes will be those who are shown to be dilgently advocating the concept of Water is Life through three areas: 1.) creating community, 2.) creating awareness, and 3.) taking concrete action steps to protect, conserve, or restore our natural waters (be they lakes, rivers, oceans, or reservoirs, tributaries, aquifirs, or drinking water).
-->The nomination essay must be between 200-500 words (not characters). A winner and runner up will be selected out of the sumitted essays.
-->The runner up will automatically be entered into the 2018 Portlandia Mermaid Parade Grand Marshal nomination contest.

CONTEST RULES
- Nominations for the Grand Marshal of the 2017 Portlandia Mermaid Parade may be made by anyone, of any age providing the nominator is able to complete the nomination essay.
- All nominees must be currently living in the state of Oregon.
- One nomination entry per-person, and one nomination per-nominee. Nominee's may be of any age with the understanding that anyone under the age of 18 must gain legal guardian, or parental permission to participate in the parade as Grand Marshal if selected.
- Winner of the Grand Marshal nomination contest will receive the honorary title of Grand Marshal of the Portlandia Mermaid Parade for 2017 only, which allows the winner to walk at the head of the 2017 Portlandia Mermaid Parade with a sash and crown. Winner is allowed to keep the sash and crown.
- If the winner is 21 years of age or older, they will also recieve 2 complimentary general admission tickets to the Siren's Masquerade Ball 2017. Tickets are non-transferable or exchangeable.
- To redeem the Grand Marshall title and the Siren's Ball tickets, a positive state or government issued I.D. is required.
- NO additional prizes, monies, or gifts are awarded as a result of winning this contest.
- *Winner will be officially crowned and sashed at the opening ceremony of the parade on Saturday July 29th 2017, and is expected to participate in entire the Portlandia Mermaid Parade 2017 in costume, and be available for photos and or interviews for 30 minutes after the parade's conclusion at Poets Beach. If the winner of the nomination for Grand Marshal 2017 is not able to attend the parade, or is not physically present at the time of the start of the parade's opening ceremony, the winner forfeits the title, and the title, and benefits described above, will automatically go to the runner up.
- The runner up will automatically be entered into the Grand Marshal Nomination contest for 2018 if not granted title through forfiture.
